Extended Rolls
Here on The Silent Eve, we've focused the system for extended actions (extended rolls) to reflect actions that take more than one day or night to complete, rather than those that take more than one round.

What are extended rolls?

Extended rolls include anything that would take more than 1 night to complete. These actions include (but are not limited to) gathering information about events/people/places, opening a business, learning a new Discipline or skill above 2 dots. When in doubt, always ask a ST.

How do I set up an extended roll?

Firstly, you must have an action in mind. This may be simply learning about a storyline, grooming Contacts or Allies, or any number of available actions to your character in the game. Be as creative as you like!

Next, you contact a ST (using request channel or e-mail) with a quick description of what you would like to do, and how you plan to go about it.

The Storyteller that handles your request will do the following things:

  • Clarify with you, if necessary, about your intended action.
  • Set up a roll with stats based on what kind of task it is. (Example: Research is generally Intelligence+Investigation)
  • Determine the number of cumulative successes that you must gather to complete the task. This ranges from 5 to 30 depending on how difficult the task is. Tasks that would be considered near impossible for your character can exceed 30 successes needed.

Once the extended roll is set up, you will be responsible for contacting a ST (via request channel) each day to ask for your extended action to be updated. Generally, the ST will have set the information for you on your score2 so that it is easier to access for both player and ST.

Each day, when you request the update to your extended roll(s), the successes you've made that day will be added to the total successes you've collected so far. When you reach the number of successes necessary to complete the extended action, you will gain whatever reward or information you were looking to gather through the rolls!
